Guru Energy Drink comes in a cool red and silver can with black writing. The design of the 12 ounce "slim" can has a very solid, modern look to it. An interesting thing to note is that this drink is 100% organic and natural. (This product is also available in 8.3 oz cans.)
The original Guru Energy Drink is the closest to the "typical" energy drink flavor out of all the Guru products, but this drink is anything but typical. For one, Guru Energy Drink is 100% natural and is made with organic fruit juices. There are no preservatives or taurine and it is only lightly carbonated. The taste is blend of white grape and lemon juices. There is a slight medicinal aftertaste and the drink leaves a slight residual taste in your mouth after drinking it, but it is nothing too bad. Guru is sweetened with sugar cane juice, instead of artificial sweeteners, making it a healthier choice.
Guru Energy Drink is natural and organic, but does it pack the punch of a “typical” energy drink such as Rockstar or Monster? Guru packs in 97 mg of natural caffeine per serving, for a total of about 146 mg in the 12 ounce can. Guru does not contain Taurine, a common ingredient found in most energy drinks, but they do pack in a bunch of other natural energy related ingredients such as guarana, ginseng, and ginkgo biloba. Overall, this drink packs a punch that is comparable to the “typical” energy drinks.
